Thorngate Living’s Russell Churcher Court care home residents may now enjoy a new patio garden thanks to the green fingered generosity and hard work of a team of employees from gas distribution company SGN.
The team of nine from SGN’s Portsmouth depot worked hard this summer to create the garden as part of the company’s Community Action Programme which gives every SGN employee a day off each year to volunteer for a project in their local community.
Anne Taylor, Chief Executive of Thorngate Almshouse Trust, said: “Thorngate Living residents do enjoy their gardens. Now, thanks to the hard work and generosity of the SGN team, Russell Churcher Court care home residents have a new patio garden of their own. We really are very grateful.”
SGN General Manager Allan Ross said: “We first became aware of Thorngate Almshouse Trust earlier in the year when we worked to divert gas mains on the site. Transforming the care home patio area was the perfect project for us to take on as part of our Community Action Programme. The residents and staff have been great to work with and we’ve all appreciated their help and support.”
