Thorngate Living has today strengthened its warden support team with the appointment of a new resident warden. Sarah Lee joins Thorngate Living from You Trust, where she was a support worker helping people at risk of homelessness. Sarah brings with her considerable experience of issues such as benefits entitlement and housing, mental health and physical well-being.
All Thorngate Living’s housing schemes benefit from on-site, 24 hour warden support. Sarah will be providing support to residents at Thorngate Court, Elizabeth Court and Melrose Gardens.
Anne Taylor, Chief Executive of Thorngate Almshouse Trust, said: “We are all looking forward to Sarah Lee joining the team. Sarah brings with her a wealth of experience and a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding issues. Her particular expertise, combined with her natural warmth and excellent communication skills are exactly what we look for in our wardens.
“Our residents tell us that to them, the reassurance of round-the-clock warden support is a key benefit of Thorngate Living. The housing and care sector faces significant challenges, particularly financial; nonetheless Thorngate Living is committed to investment in wardens and support services for all our residents.”
Sarah Lee added: “I am thrilled to be joining Thorngate Living at such a busy time and I’m going to be working with a super team of wardens and lovely residents.
“There’s such a friendly atmosphere here and lots of encouragement for new ideas and the development of new services for residents. It’s a lively and dynamic place to work.”
A key feature of Thorngate Living is the reassurance of full-time, on-site, resident wardens at each of the Trust’s properties. This means that trained and friendly staff are on hand to help with everyday matters such as arranging maintenance, deliveries and ensuring that the buildings stay secure at all times. In addition they can give guidance on local services and help ensure residents have access to the benefits and support to which they are entitled.
