Work is underway on new sheltered apartments in Gosport as Thorngate Churcher Trust looks to expand its offering to local people.
Two new apartments are due to be completed in September and work has also just started on a further two apartments which will be ready next spring.
The work follows the opening earlier this year of Lucas Court - 10 new sheltered apartments which are now all occupied and comes as the Trust marks its 150th anniversary.
“2018 is proving a busy year for us and we’re delighted to be able to offer even more vital social accommodation for people in Gosport,” said chief executive Anne Taylor. “We always have a waiting list and while we can’t meet all the demand we are looking forward to being able to complete four more apartments.”
All homes will be one bedroom properties with access for those with limited mobility and offering all the benefits of being part of the Thorngate Churcher Trust including warden support, activities for residents and an attractive setting.
Construction work is now well underway on the first homes and demolition of an older building is due to start shortly to create space for the second tranche of building.
“We are pleased to have secured funding for these much-needed new flats including a grant from Homes England and from the Bradbury Trust,” said Anne. “Their support is greatly appreciated as we continue our commitment to offer homes to those in the area.”
