Don Lucas has retired from his role as trustee and chairman of the Thorngate Churcher Trust after more than 40 years involved in the Gosport charity. His dedication and support were praised by fellow trustees and staff at Thorngate who described Don as an inspiration with tremendous passion for the charity.
Incoming chairman Doreen Dodd thanked Don for his unstinting service and support of the charity. “Don has been a tremendous asset to the charity and we thank him for his work and for making a positive impact on the housing sector in Gosport generally and at Thorngate in particular,” she said. “We were delighted to name our brand new development of sheltered accommodation Lucas Court after Don and plan to hold an event this summer to officially thank Don for his tremendous service.”
Don has been instrumental in ensuring that the original mission of the charity founders continues today – to create better housing and social conditions for the less advantaged in Gosport. “I have always been committed to achieving similar outcomes and am proud of the work of the trust,” said Don. “I have enjoyed my years working with everyone at Thorngate Churcher Trust and wish everyone the very best luck in the future – the trust is in safe hands and has a bright future ahead.”
